DIR 101: AN INTRODUCTION TO DIR® AND DIRFLOORTIME®
The DIR 101 course is an introduction to the DIR model and Floortime and is a 12-hour course taught both live online (via Zoom) and onsite throughout the world.
NEXT SCHEDULE: This DIRFloortime® course is approved by the International Council for Development and Learning (ICDL) and will be delivered onsite on Thursday and Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, September 12-13 2024. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is an introductory course that reviews the theoretical framework, scientific evidence, and scope of application of the model promoting functional emotional developmental capacities, reflective thinking, and overall mental health for all children and adults, including those with developmental disabilities.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
(1) Students successfully completing this course will demonstrate the ability to identify at least three common features of autism and other challenges of relating and communicating.
(2) Students successfully completing this course will demonstrate the ability to identify at least four key features of relationship-based approaches.
(3) Students successfully completing this course will demonstrate the ability to describe all 6 Functional Emotional Developmental Capacities (FEDCs) in the DIR® model and potential challenges that children face at each capacity.
(4) Students successfully completing this course will demonstrate the ability to describe at least three characteristics of how individual differences (the "I" in DIR®), including health, sensory processing, and regulatory challenges, can impact a child's development.
(5) Students successfully completing this course will demonstrate the ability to identify at least three key principles and basic strategies of Floortime.
(6) Students successfully completing this course will demonstrate the ability to describe at least three characteristics of relationship and family in the DIR® model.
(7) Students successfully completing this course will demonstrate the ability to describe the essential role of affect as it is related to the D, the I, and the R.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EVALUATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND CERTIFICATE OBTAINED
Course Interaction: This live class is fully interactive. Attendees may ask and answer questions throughout the presentation and participate in instructor-led discussions.
- Certificate of Completion will be emailed to participants at the email address used at registration within 30 days of course completion. All certificates will be issued through the International Council for Development and Learning (ICDL).
- Complete attendance is required to qualify for your Certificate.

CANCELLATIONS/REFUNDS
All cancellations must be made by e-mailing info@thegrowingbrainph.com. If you request a cancellation at least 10 days prior to the first day of class you will qualify for a full refund less a Php 1,000 processing fee.
Whether you pay for the full price of the course or you pay a deposit, the entire price of the course is required to be paid even if you drop the course or stop attending. You will not receive a Certificate of Completion unless you have fully paid 7 days (1 week) before the start of the course.
COMPLAINTS OR GRIEVANCES
Should a participant in a course have a complaint, we ask that you contact the training leader of the course. If this is not acceptable, appropriate, or successful, you can e-mail our training department at dirfloortimetraining@icdl.com. A training department manager will respond as quickly as possible. If you are still not satisfied, please e-mail the ICDL Chief Executive Officer, Jeffrey Guenzel, at jguenzel@icdl.com. Once your complaint is received by Mr. Guenzel, you will receive a response with a resolution within 15 business days. It is our goal and commitment that every participant is satisfied with their learning experience.
